New round of EU funding for eHealth projects

Horizon 2020

Horizon 2020 is the financial instrument implementing the Innovation Union, a Europe 2020 initiative aimed at securing Europe’s global competitiveness.

The programme’s funding priorities for the next two years (2016/17) have been unveiled by the European Commission, including priorities for research and innovation activities on health, demographic change and wellbeing worth nearly €1 billion.

E-health is high on the European Commission’s agenda; it has taken stock of the trends toward the digitalization of health and now aims to enhance user confidence in digital tools and apps, while ensuring that the market conditions encourage continued innovation. The new Horizon 2020 calls reflect this increased interest in e-Health by offering funding for a number of e-Health projects.

Below is a list of the new calls in the area of e-Health which we have identified amongst the numerous new calls.

How to apply?

The Horizon 2020 Participant Portal is the entry point for electronic administration of EU-funded research and innovation projects, and hosts the services for managing proposals and projects. As you will see in our list of calls above, each call gives more precise information on the questions that the Commission would like you to address in your proposals. But don’t wait; some calls’ submission deadlines are in February 2016 already.

One of the big mistakes made by applicants is not to involve EU funding experts; as a result, they do not accurately translate their technical requirements into economical terms and fail to understand the political subtleties which underline every call for proposal. With years of EU health policy expertise and a wide and established network of EU e-Health innovators, EU Monitr and Syte can help you create European alliances and put together the strongest proposal for funding. If you are interested in keeping abreast of EU e-Health developments, Syte and EU Monitr publish a monthly IQ Report on eHealth. In this report we provide you with a complete overview of the e-Health sector; we cover financial data to help you understand the dynamism of the industry and investment trends. We also monitor EU policy which affect the industry. The EU is increasingly promoting e-Health by raising awareness and making the legislative environment more conducive to innovation and competition.
